About the Instructor
Elizabeth Kendall is a nationally recognized ceramic artist. Her vessels, sculptures and installations have been exhibited in national and international venues.
She has been a featured artist and contributing author for a variety of publications including: Ceramics Monthly, Pottery Making Illustrated, Clay Times, and Studio Potter. Her work has also been featured in Lark Publications 500 Cups and 500 Pitchers.
A Taste of Clay
One 2-hour sessions: $35
During this class you will have a chance to experience all the stages of throwing at the wheel: centering, throwing, trimming and surface decoration. Finished work will be fired and ready for pick shortly after the last class
Beginning Wheel

Wednesday Evenings
Ages: 16+
In this class students will learn about the properties of clay and glaze materials. Through discussion, demonstration and hands-on we will explore how the material moves and how to control it. Focus will be on bowl forms, and throwing off the hump. Personal style and glaze application solutions will also be introduced. Class fee includes one bag of clay.
Glaze Daze
Two three-hour sessions
$150
Join ceramic artist Elizabeth Kendall to learn new surface decoration techniques. During these two sessions students will explore a variety of methods for applying glazes and underglazes on both bisque and greenware. Including mishima, sgraffito, wax and latex resist, and ceramic decals, stencils and silkscreening. We will also discuss aesthetic decision making and developing your own personal voice. Class fee includes one bisque and one glaze firing. Students are expected to bring 3-5 leather-hard vessels to first class.
Handbuilding Workshops

Brush Up your Brushwork
2-hour workshop
$100
We will practice a variety of marks with a variety of brushes, first on paper and then on bisqueware. Class fee includes use of underglazes, clear overglaze and one firing.
Family Sessions
Handbuilding for Parent and Child
$100 2-hour session
Handbuilding class to create a family platter or set of cups or bowls. Work will be made and decorated as a team and will be fired and ready for pick up in about two weeks.
Clay for Senior Adults (Ages 55+)
Potluck: Clay & Company
Custom-designed hand building class with a focus on bowls, using pinch, coil, and slab techniques. We will explore what makes clay special. Elements of 3-d design, brushwork, and carving on clay. Final project can include a community empty bowls event or simple swap. We. can also end with a potluck of favorite foods using our hand made bowls. More Details.
Thinking Outside the Box
Students will make their own tiles and boxes out of clay slabs, learn basic hand building skills, and a variety of surface decoration techniques. Course will emphasize basic elements of design, critical thinking and collaboration.
